THE MESSAGE IS IN THE MUSIC

It is a privilege of yours truly that he does not have to play new music regularly, in order to fulfill commercial requests, compile contemporary charts or promote demo bands in pursuit of the almighty buck. Fortunately bills are being paid from other sources, leaving music entirely for my own pleasure and joy.
As you have witnessed in the past two years or so, Jazzadelica has been bringing you only top quality music, approved by time and soul. Having said this, one cannot overcome the fact that new music has been played and recorded all over the world, with young artists digging for the perfect beat and sound and blending musical styles and genres. Podcasts, blogs, internet radio stations, all helped in fusing and spreading sounds all across the universe.
From time to time, Jazzadelica goes in search for new, groovy and quality stuff, where samples and loops have not extracted soul out of music. Through this we show our support for musicians, producers, dj’s and other genuine music aficionado’s worldwide.
This show perfectly reflects our attitude, mixing new and old, blending hip-hop, jazz, soul, breakbeat, afro, brazilian, latin, dub, and other sounds into a unique experience.

PEOPLE MAKE THE WORLD GO ROUND

A logical progression from our last show, in the days when the sun is high and the clouds are low, we feel the heat rising all around, and yes, Jazzadelica is looking for sun, the smell of hot air flowing from the river into the trees and the tall green grass…It’s all about great people, their inspiration and the result, music.
Yeah, the music just naturally follows the vibe, and we start our show with some contemporary and clever little cut’n’pastesampleloopahoolic workout “Love is wet” from Pilooski, who took us into the hip-hop game blended with some fine jazz from the Jazz Liberatorz of Oakland / California, “Cool down” with a cocktail on a lazy afternoon @ 36 degrees Celsius  we shake gently with the Sound Providers and their conscious lyrics. DJ Cam takes us to the streets, the noise and the samples of Lonnie Liston Smith, followed by the title track for this months show – “People make the world go round”, this time interpreted by Carl Craig.

At this point just could not resist to play some of my current favorite Caribbean and Reggae gems, from Barbados we have the pleasure to introduce Boo & The Trutones with the classic Tavares anthem “Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel” and Mr. Carlton Livingston with his rare and much sough after song “Hot Hot Summer”, which reminds me of some lazy days on the beaches of the Kyklades with my soul brother Drasko Uzelac (RIP). This is a tribute to him -“No one can stop us now” by Willie Williams. One more precious soul has left us just as we prepared this show – late great Michael Jackson (RIP) and “I can’t help it”, I had to play it. As we have to move on, we drop the classic song by Milton Wright named “Keep it Up”, which takes us into the deeper soul waters of Brazilian born and bred Mr. Moacir Santos with his beautiful and philosophical poem “What’s my name”. The session continues with deep spiritual tones of Ben Sidran and “Now I live”, blending nicely into “Space Talk” from Asha Puthli. One for Mr. Cosmic - “Do you have any” from Le Pamplemousse, one of our favorite tracks from back in the High St.Kensington daze 1988/89. As we slowly approach the end of this months show, we had to pay a little tribute to another great late man, Mr. Norman Whitfield (RIP), songwriter and producer of some of the anthems of modern music. This time we play his less known track “Keep on keeping on” and Rose Royce. Finally we close the session with the beautiful and introspective song from the Waters: “Trying Hard To Look Inside“.

Stay Beautiful, Stay Funky
